Lahra Harcourt-Brown
BSC(Hons) BVM&S MRCVS
Large Animal Vet and Consultant
Lahra brings a unique global perspective to farm animal health, combining extensive veterinary training with international experience in livestock systems and public health. During a Veterinary Medicine degree at University of Edinburgh in 2019, she took a year out to complete an intercalated BSc in Global Health at Bristol University, where her research focused on urban livestock keeping in Nairobi.
A commitment to education and knowledge sharing has marked her veterinary career. Starting her veterinary career in Somerset, she was involved in training courses whilst handling the full spectrum of large animal practice. She has achieved multiple professional qualifications, including BCVA advisorships in Johne’s disease and bTB, as well as Quarter Pro certification.
Lahra’s international work demonstrates her dedication to improving animal health beyond UK borders. From working with paravets in The Gambia to voluntary veterinary work in India and the Seychelles, she’s witnessed how veterinary knowledge can transform animal welfare in resource-limited settings.
Committed to education delivery, in her spare time she is also the director of a community interest company, working on a voluntary basis to remove barriers to rural education, with an aim to deliver courses in animal health and welfare to those who may not otherwise have access to formal education routes.
Her experience with diverse livestock systems – from Kenyan dairy farmers to Northumberland sheep flocks – reinforces Ruminant Revival’s belief that fundamental veterinary principles apply universally, regardless of scale or location. Lahra understands that sustainable farming practices often emerge from careful observation and adaptation to local conditions.
This broad perspective helps her identify practical solutions that work in real-world farming.
